Foundations

After a few days of hard work the foundations are finally nearing completion. We wanted to minimize the impact of the foundations but at the same time achieve very good insulating value for the planned clay floor. Tomorrow the broken foam glass from the company REFAGLASS should arrive, so there was a bit hectic today to get everything done.

The Dome is going to stand on 8 pillers, and we made point foundations for them. The plan was to dig out the remaining earth all the way down to gravel (at 80cm below terrain surface), inject the gravel with a cement slurry, and pour the concrete slabs on top of that. Some holes were deeper than others, but we still only used about 1,6m3 of concrete. The wooden construction for the Vaults are going to lie directly on foam glass.

With the help of a rotational laser the height of the concrete foundations should be in the area o +/-3mm, and will make it easy to level the columns. The earth has a tolerance of +/-3cm, and needs to be covered with geotextile before applying broken foam glass.
