After 2 days of work we are finally getting closer to the moment when we start compressing the foam glass. This is how it looked before we started distributing the foam glass with a wheel barrow:
Foam glass is light, but very hard to get on the shovel - we need about 40m3 of foam glass that we will later compress at a rate of 1:1,2. For normal buildings a compressing rate of 1:1,3 is usual, but in our case the loads are not very heavy.
Foam glass foundations should be deeper on the edges, for increased insulation and drainage.
For making it easy to install the columns we made boxes to keep the foam glass away. I marked the center of the column while still easily accessible.
This is how foam glass looks close up:
Now its just sunday left to finish the foam glass, monday the wood will arrive... this is how it looked on saturday evening. 8 days to go before the workshop starts...
